Ahoy Single Subject Lads and Lassies,
Avast, did you know that September 19th is “Talk Like A Pirate Day?” Arrgh, many of you may already have piratical celebrations planned with family and friends, but in honor of this event … the Single Subject Program will be celebrating this holiday in full festive flavor (Week 3). We will be dressing in pirate regalia, using pirate language and even sharing pirate grub. We invite you to join in on the fun.
Why pirates? Aye, of course we are aware that real pirates are not the best role models and we are in no way encouraging anyone to be evil or act like a criminal, we merely are following suit with the founders of Talk Like a Pirate Day and are honoring the pretend pirate folklore. The founders urge people to talk like pirates, not act like pirates. We are modeling how you can have fun and connect with your students.
Landlubbers, if you are not sure how to prepare here are some tips:
Pirate Regalia Suggestions
- Wear red and black clothing.
- Accessorize with bold metallic accents.
- Wear a blousing top or a vest.
- Pull on a pair of boots, the higher the boot the better.
- Have a colored handkerchief; tie it on your head or around your neck.
